History:
The M109 self-propelled howitzer entered US Army service in the early 1960s and quickly became one of the most widely used artillery systems in the Western world. Designed for mobility and firepower, it featured a fully traversable turret housing a 155 mm gun, capable of delivering sustained indirect fire. The M109 saw extensive action during the Vietnam War, where its ability to rapidly redeploy and provide accurate fire support proved invaluable. It was also deployed across NATO forces during the Cold War and exported to numerous allied nations, including Israel, which used it in multiple conflicts. Over decades of service, the M109 underwent many upgrades and remains in use today, making it one of the most enduring artillery platforms ever built.
