History:
The M4 Sherman was the backbone of US armoured forces during the Second World War, with over 49,000 produced in numerous variants. The M4A1, with its rounded cast hull, was one of the earliest versions and saw action in North Africa, Europe, and the Pacific. While outclassed in armour and firepower by German heavy tanks, the Sherman excelled in mobility, ease of production, and logistical support. It served with US, British, and Soviet forces under Lend-Lease, and captured examples were even pressed into service by German units. Its versatility and mass production made it one of the most important tanks of the war, remembered as a symbol of Allied armoured strength.
