History:
The Space Shuttle Atlantis was NASA’s fourth operational orbiter, first launched on 3 October 1985. Over the course of 35 missions, it contributed to significant milestones in space exploration, including the deployment of satellites, interplanetary probes, and construction of the International Space Station. Atlantis was also central to Shuttle-Mir operations, helping establish U.S.-Russian space cooperation in the 1990s. After its final mission in July 2011, Atlantis became a museum centrepiece at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The shuttle programme, running from 1981 to 2011, redefined space travel with its reusable design, enabling routine access to low Earth orbit for 30 years.
