History:
The V2 rocket, developed in Nazi Germany under the direction of Wernher von Braun, was the world’s first long-range guided ballistic missile. Used from 1944, it was launched against targets in Britain and continental Europe, causing devastation while showcasing revolutionary rocket technology. To transport the massive rocket, the SS-100 Gigant tractor and its specialised trailer were employed, enabling mobility from storage depots to launch sites. Although the V2 had limited impact on the outcome of the war, it represented a leap forward in aerospace engineering and laid the groundwork for post-war rocket development in both the USA and the Soviet Union. This kit highlights the full logistical system behind one of history’s most significant and controversial weapons.
