History:
The Panzerkampfwagen IV Ausf. J was the final version of Germany’s most widely used tank during the Second World War. Introduced in 1944, this model incorporated several design changes to simplify production and reduce costs, including the removal of the electric turret traverse and the addition of more fuel capacity for greater operational range. It featured solid steel return rollers, mesh side skirts for improved anti-HEAT protection, and saw widespread use on both Eastern and Western Fronts until the war’s end. Despite being technically outdated by 1945, the Panzer IV remained in service thanks to its reliability and ease of maintenance, often fielded by under-strength Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS units during Germany’s last-ditch defensive efforts.
