Rye Field Models Plastic Model Kit
Sd.Kfz.234/3 Schwerer Panzerspähwagen 7.5cm Stummel (1/35) RM5134
This 1/35 scale kit from Rye Field Models faithfully reproduces the German Sd.Kfz.234/3 Schwerer Panzerspähwagen, a six-wheeled armoured reconnaissance vehicle fitted with a short-barrelled 7.5cm KwK 37 cannon, nicknamed the “Stummel” (stubby). Introduced in late 1943, the 234/3 offered substantial firepower for reconnaissance and infantry support roles.
The kit includes detailed injection-moulded parts with slide-moulding technology to replicate complex armour geometry. It offers open or closed vision blocks, finely rendered wheels and suspension, and a well-detailed turret interior. Optional open-top configuration and late-war stowage details further enhance realism.

History:
The Sd.Kfz.234 series of heavy armoured cars was developed to enhance Germany’s reconnaissance capabilities during the later years of the Second World War. The 234/3 variant was armed with a 7.5cm gun in an open-topped fighting compartment, giving it direct-fire capability against soft targets and light vehicles. Despite its limited protection, the vehicle was agile, robust and well-liked by its crews. The 234/3 saw action on both the Eastern and Western Fronts during 1944 and 1945, contributing to mobile operations and rear-area security missions.
