The Tamiya 1/48 British Cromwell Mk.IV kit faithfully recreates one of Britain’s most successful and fastest cruiser tanks of the Second World War. Introduced in 1944, the Cromwell combined speed, mobility, and reliable firepower, making it a formidable asset during the later stages of the conflict, particularly in the European theatre following D-Day.
The Cromwell Mk.IV was powered by the Rolls-Royce Meteor V12 engine, giving it a top speed of over 40mph (64km/h), making it one of the fastest tanks of its time. Armed with a 75mm gun, it was well-suited for both engaging enemy armour and providing infantry support. Its low profile and excellent manoeuvrability allowed it to operate effectively in varied terrain, from open countryside to urban battlefields. Cromwells served with distinction in British and Commonwealth armoured regiments, taking part in operations in France, the Low Countries, and Germany until the end of the war.
