Tamiya Military Miniature Series
Tamiya British Crusader Mk.III Cruiser Mk.VI (1/48)
This 1/48 scale Tamiya kit recreates the British Crusader Mk.III Cruiser Mk.VI, a key development in the Crusader tank series that served in the North African desert. Introduced in 1941, the Crusader was designed for speed and mobility, inspired by the innovative suspension concepts of Walter Christie. While it outpaced many German tanks, its initial versions were under-armed and lightly armoured. The Mk.III addressed these shortcomings by mounting the more powerful 6-pounder gun, which improved its anti-armour capabilities but reduced turret crew to three.
- Highly detailed 1/48 scale model of the Crusader Mk.III
- Features new parts for the 6-pounder gun and specific mantlet design
- Die-cast chassis adds weight and realistic feel

- Compatible with other Tamiya Crusader variants for collection or diorama
The Crusader Mk.III played a prominent role during the latter stages of the North African campaign, serving in battles such as El Alamein. While mechanical reliability remained a challenge in the harsh desert climate, the tank’s speed and improved armament allowed British armoured units to better challenge German Panzer forces until more advanced designs, like the Cromwell, became available. Its service cemented the Crusader’s place as a transitional but vital step in British WWII tank development.
