History:
The F-14A Tomcat first flew in 1970 and quickly became the backbone of the U.S. Navy’s fleet defence. Its variable-geometry wings, long-range radar, and powerful twin engines made it ideal for both air superiority and ground attack roles. Equipped with AIM-54 Phoenix missiles and later upgraded with precision-guided munitions, the F-14 remained in active service for over 30 years. The Black Knights, or VF-154, were one of the most recognisable squadrons to operate the Tomcat, known for their distinctive markings and operational effectiveness across numerous deployments in the Pacific and Middle East theatres.
