Tamiya Plastic Model Kit
FAMO and Tank Transporter (1/35) 35246
This 1/35 scale kit from Tamiya recreates the German 18-ton Heavy Half-Track “FAMO” paired with the Sd.Ah.116 tank transporter trailer, a vital recovery and transport vehicle for the Wehrmacht during World War II. Used across multiple theatres including North Africa and the Eastern Front, the FAMO was essential for moving disabled vehicles and heavy equipment, particularly in areas with limited infrastructure.
Powered by a Maybach HL 108 12-cylinder engine producing 270hp, the FAMO could tow damaged tanks such as the Panzer III and IV, either directly via draw-bar or by loading them onto the massive Sd.Ah.116 trailer. The trailer’s rear bogie had a separate steering mechanism for manoeuvring heavy loads, and the transporter could carry up to 23-ton vehicles.
- Over 640mm in length, making it the longest kit in Tamiya’s Military Miniature series.
- Realistic suspension and steering on the trailer.
- Includes real rubber tyres for an authentic look.
- Metal and plated metal parts, including chains for securing loads.
- Eight figures from the original FAMO kit plus four new figures in loading poses.
- Detailed winch, storage compartments, and accessory equipment.
A perfect centrepiece for a diorama, the FAMO and Sd.Ah.116 tank transporter captures the sheer scale and engineering prowess of German heavy recovery operations during WWII.
