Tamiya Plastic Model Kit
U.S. Ford G.P.A. Amphibian Jeep (1/35) 35336
The Ford GPA, known as the ‘Seep’ (Sea + Jeep), was an amphibious version of the standard U.S. Jeep used during World War II. Designed to navigate both land and water, it featured a boat-like hull and a screw propeller driven by the vehicle’s engine. The GPA was developed for reconnaissance and river-crossing operations, but while innovative, it proved underpowered and difficult to manoeuvre in rough waters, leading to limited production. Around 12,800 units were made, with many later sent to the Soviet Union under Lend-Lease, where they were used more effectively.
Tamiya’s 1/35 scale model kit captures the compact amphibious design with excellent attention to detail and includes precision photo-etched parts for added realism. The open-top layout, propeller housing, and hull contours are all faithfully recreated. The kit also includes a driver figure and optional accessories such as canvas cover parts, weapons, and stowage items for added display versatility.
