German S Panzer IV Brummbar (1/35) 35077
This 1/35 scale Tamiya kit recreates the formidable German Sturmpanzer IV “Brummbär,” a heavy assault gun designed for close-quarters combat and urban warfare. Mounted on the Panzer IV chassis, it carried a 15cm StuH 43 L/12 howitzer in a heavily armoured superstructure, making it highly effective against fortified positions.
- Accurately reproduced armour layout, including thick frontal and sloped side plates.
- Detailed 15cm howitzer with armoured sleeve.
- Optional features for early and late production variants.
- Includes commander’s cupola and MG34 anti-aircraft mount for late versions.
- Realistic suspension and road wheels based on the Panzer IV chassis.
History: Developed in 1942 to address the need for a heavily armed street-fighting vehicle, the Brummbär entered service in 1943 on the Eastern Front. Built on successive Panzer IV chassis variants (Ausf. G, H, and J), it featured armour up to 100mm thick, enabling it to withstand most enemy fire at close range. A total of 313 were produced, serving on both Eastern and Western fronts until the end of WWII. Despite its heavy weight straining the chassis, it proved highly effective in demolishing enemy fortifications and earned its nickname “Grizzly Bear” from German troops.
