Tamiya 1/700 Scale Ship Model Kit
Hamman (1/700)
The Tamiya Hamman (1/700) kit recreates the USS Hammann (DD-412), a Sims class destroyer commissioned in 1939. This historically significant vessel played a vital role in the Pacific during WWII, notably rescuing sailors from the aircraft carrier USS Lexington in 1942.
The Hammann is perhaps best remembered for her actions during the Battle of Midway. After assisting the damaged USS Yorktown and taking aboard her crew, the Hammann remained alongside to help with repairs. In June 1942, both ships were attacked by the Japanese submarine I-168, with the Hammann struck by a torpedo and sinking soon after.
Tamiya has meticulously researched historical archives to ensure this 1/700 scale model is an accurate and faithful representation of the USS Hammann. The kit features crisp mouldings and fine details, making it an excellent choice for naval history enthusiasts and scale model collectors.
