Tamiya Waterline Series
Tamiya HMS Hood & E Class Destroyer (1/700)
This 1/700 scale model kit pairs the iconic British battlecruiser HMS Hood with a Royal Navy E Class Destroyer. HMS Hood, launched in 1920, was the pride of the Royal Navy and one of the largest warships afloat for two decades. Though modernised only modestly before World War II, she remained a powerful presence. In May 1941, HMS Hood joined the hunt for the German battleship Bismarck. Tragically, Hood was sunk during the Battle of the Denmark Strait after a direct hit from Bismarck, with only three survivors from a crew of over 1,400.
The included E Class Destroyer represents one of the nine destroyers built in the mid-1930s, which provided escort and anti-submarine protection. Two of these, HMS Echo and HMS Electra, accompanied Hood on her final voyage, with Electra rescuing the only survivors.
