This Tamiya 1/35 scale kit faithfully depicts the Japanese Ground Self Defense Force (JGSDF) Light Armored Vehicle in its domestic specification. Different from the Iraq PKO version released previously, this kit features new parts reflecting the latest updates used by JGSDF units.

History
The JGSDF Light Armored Vehicle was developed in response to Japan’s evolving defence strategy, which began to prioritise mobility and rapid deployment in the early 2000s. Designed to provide protection and manoeuvrability for infantry units, it features all-wheel drive, light armour, and a modular design that can support various mission roles. With a production count of approximately 1,900 vehicles, it serves across both the JGSDF and JASDF, including peacekeeping missions and homeland defence. Modern upgrades continue to extend its relevance in Japan’s defence structure.
