Tamiya Plastic Model Kit
Kubelwagen Type 82 (1/48) 32501
This 1/48 scale model kit from Tamiya replicates the German Kübelwagen Type 82, one of the most widely used light utility vehicles in the Wehrmacht during the Second World War. Developed from the civilian Volkswagen design by Dr. Ferdinand Porsche, the Kübelwagen was adapted for military use in 1938 and quickly became a staple of German forces in every theatre, from the North African desert to the Russian front.
The model features a highly detailed interior, optional front doors that can be posed open or closed, and accurate late-production elements including the shortened rear fenders. It also includes two standing Luftwaffe crew figures, one holding a map and the other giving instructions—ideal for aircraft or airfield diorama scenes.

History
Designed in 1938 and mass-produced during World War II, the Kübelwagen Type 82 was Germany’s answer to the Allied jeep. Built on the Volkswagen Beetle platform, it featured a lightweight chassis, reliable air-cooled engine and a simple monocoque body. The Kübelwagen was remarkably effective across all environments and climates, from North Africa to the Russian front.
Its ease of maintenance, fuel efficiency and off-road capability made it a favourite among German troops. More than 50,000 units were produced during the war. Today, the Kübelwagen remains a symbol of wartime utility and engineering efficiency. Tamiya’s 1/48 scale kit honours this history with faithful detailing and thoughtful design.
