History
The M3A1 Scout Car was introduced in the early 1940s as a fast, lightly armoured vehicle to serve in reconnaissance and command roles. Its versatility and reliability led to over 20,000 units being produced. Although it was phased out from U.S. frontline service by mid-war in favour of more heavily armoured half-tracks, it remained in use for other tasks and was widely adopted by Allied forces including the Soviet Union. The vehicle saw action in multiple theatres such as North Africa, Italy, and Eastern Europe. In Soviet hands, it was used for reconnaissance, liaison, and urban combat support during the final offensives of World War II.
