Tamiya Military Miniature Series
Tamiya US M4A1 Sherman Tank (1/48)
The Tamiya 1/48 M4A1 Sherman kit depicts one of the most recognisable Allied tanks of WWII. Known to the British as the Sherman II, the M4A1 variant featured a fully cast upper hull and turret, giving it rounded contours that set it apart from the angular welded hulls of earlier models. This shape not only gave the M4A1 a distinctive appearance but also contributed to its armour strength.
First entering service in 1942, the M4 Sherman series became the backbone of Allied armoured forces. With over 50,000 units built in various configurations, it served in every major theatre of the war. The M4A1 variant mounted a 75mm M3 gun and was powered by a Continental R975 radial engine, providing a balance of mobility, firepower, and reliability. It played a crucial role from the North African campaign through to the final pushes into Germany.
