The Mosquito B Mk.IV entered service in spring 1942, leading daring daylight raids such as the May 1942 strike on Caim and the September 1942 bombing of Gestapo headquarters in Oslo. The PR Mk.IV was equipped with cameras to undertake high-speed, high-altitude reconnaissance, famously locating the German battleship Tirpitz and documenting V2 rocket sites. Both versions demonstrated exceptional capability, often operating deep into enemy territory with minimal losses, solidifying the Mosquito’s reputation as one of the most remarkable aircraft of the war.
