Tamiya Military Miniature Series
Tamiya Pz.Kpwf.III Ausf N (1/48)
This 1/48 scale Tamiya model kit recreates the Panzerkampfwagen III Ausf.N, the final variant of the Panzer III series. Introduced in June 1942, the Ausf.N was reconfigured as an infantry support tank, replacing its long-barrelled anti-tank gun with the short-barrelled 75mm KwK 37 L/24 from the Panzer IV. This adaptation provided the high-explosive firepower needed to support advancing infantry and protect heavier tanks like the Tiger I from close threats.
- Accurate reproduction of Ausf.N-specific parts, including Schurzen turret and hull armor skirts
- Die-cast lower hull adds weight and realism
- Assembly type tracks with realistic upper run sag
- Includes two marking options, including a tank from s.Pz.Abt. 501
Built in limited numbers—around 700 units—the Ausf.N served on multiple fronts from the Eastern Front to North Africa and Italy. These tanks were frequently assigned to heavy tank battalions, providing crucial close-support firepower that complemented the long-range capabilities of the Tiger. The addition of Schurzen armor skirts from spring 1943 helped improve protection against anti-tank rifles and shaped-charge weapons. This model captures the distinctive look and historical significance of the final Panzer III, making it a valuable addition for WWII German armour enthusiasts and diorama builders alike.
