History
The KV-1 was a cornerstone of early Soviet armoured strength, introduced in 1939 and deployed in large numbers by 1941. With its thick armour and 76.2mm main gun, it shocked German forces during Operation Barbarossa, as many German anti-tank weapons could not penetrate it. The KV-1F variant represented an early form with welded turret and simple construction. Despite being heavy and at times mechanically unreliable, it played a vital role in the Red Army’s efforts to stall the Axis advance in the early war years, becoming a symbol of Soviet resilience and industrial might.
