History
Introduced in 1944, the JS-2 was the Soviet Union’s answer to heavily armed German tanks such as the Tiger and Panther. Designed for breakthrough operations, it combined heavy armour protection with the firepower of a 122mm gun, capable of destroying enemy armour and fortifications alike. The Model 1944 ChKZ variant incorporated sloped frontal armour to increase deflection of incoming rounds and a new muzzle brake for improved firing control. It played a significant role during the final offensives of WWII, including the Vistula–Oder Offensive and the Battle of Berlin, cementing its place as one of the most feared tanks of the war.
