Universal Carrier Mk.II Forced Recon (1/35) 35249
This 1/35 scale model from Tamiya recreates the British Universal Carrier Mk.II in its reconnaissance configuration. The Universal Carrier, developed from earlier Vickers-Armstrong designs such as the Bren Carrier, became the most numerous armoured vehicle of all time with over 100,000 built. The Mk.II, introduced in late 1942, featured a welded and waterproofed hull, new track guards, and revised stowage arrangements.
Designed for flexibility, the Universal Carrier was used for troop transport, mobile fire support, and reconnaissance duties. In Motor Battalions, these carriers worked closely with Cromwell, Churchill, and Sherman tanks, moving ahead of the main force to gather intelligence and secure flanks. Reconnaissance variants often carried a Bren light machine gun and additional equipment tailored for forward observation and communication tasks.
