US 6×6 M561 Gamma Goat (1/35) 35330
The M561 Gamma Goat was a six-wheeled, semi-amphibious off-road vehicle used by the US military during the Vietnam War and into the 1980s. Designed to navigate rough terrain, the Gamma Goat featured a unique articulated chassis, which allowed it to traverse difficult landscapes while maintaining traction across all six wheels. It was powered by a 3-cylinder diesel engine and had a top speed of around 50mph on road, though its real strength was in off-road and logistical operations.
Its nickname, “Gamma Goat”, came from the inventor, Roger Gamaunt, and the vehicle’s goat-like ability to climb steep inclines and rough terrain. The vehicle was commonly used for cargo transport, personnel movement, and even as a field ambulance. Although criticised for its noise and complex maintenance, it remained in service due to its exceptional mobility in challenging environments.
