Tamiya Military Miniature Series
Tamiya US M10 Mid Production (1/48)
The M10 was America’s first dedicated tank destroyer, developed to counter heavily armoured enemy vehicles during WWII. Based on the reliable Sherman tank chassis, it featured an open-topped, wedge-shaped turret armed with a 3-inch (76.2mm) gun capable of penetrating up to 88mm of armour at 1,000 metres. The design prioritised mobility and firepower over heavy armour, allowing the M10 to quickly manoeuvre into firing positions.
First seeing action in Tunisia in 1943, the M10 served in multiple theatres including Italy, Western Europe, and the Pacific. While its relatively thin armour made it vulnerable, crews often bolted on additional plates for extra protection. The M10 became a workhorse of US armoured units, providing long-range fire support and serving as a key element in anti-armour operations throughout the war.
