History:
The M113 Armoured Personnel Carrier was introduced in the early 1960s and became one of the most widely used military vehicles in history. Its lightweight aluminium construction allowed for amphibious capability, while its simple design made it easy to maintain in the field. During the Vietnam War, US forces developed the Armoured Cavalry Assault Vehicle (ACAV) variant to meet the demands of close combat and convoy escort missions. This version featured extra armour protection, side gun shields, and the distinctive cupola for the commander’s M60 machine gun. The M113 ACAV proved to be a durable and adaptable platform, serving not only in Vietnam but also with many armed forces worldwide for decades after the conflict.
