History:
The Vought F4U-1D Corsair was one of the first variants cleared for aircraft carrier operations. With its powerful engine, gull-wing design, and rugged airframe, the Corsair provided critical air support during pivotal battles in the Pacific, including the Philippines and Okinawa campaigns. The F4U-1D’s ability to deliver bombs and rockets made it invaluable in close air support roles, and it continued serving well beyond WWII, seeing combat again during the Korean War. Its legacy as one of the most versatile and effective naval fighters of its time remains unmatched.
