History:
The Lockheed F-117A Nighthawk was the world’s first operational stealth aircraft, developed under extreme secrecy by Lockheed’s Skunk Works division. Entering service with the United States Air Force in 1983, the F-117A was designed for precision ground-attack missions while evading radar detection. Its faceted, angular surfaces and radar-absorbent materials made it nearly invisible to radar—a revolutionary advancement in military aviation. The aircraft saw combat in Panama, the Gulf War, and later in the Balkans, retiring officially in 2008. Trumpeter’s 1/32 scale model offers a striking representation of this iconic aircraft, with a massive wingspan, internal weapon bay detail, and modern tooling that captures the unique geometry and imposing presence of the Nighthawk in stunning detail.
