Victrix Plastic Model Figures
Bavarian Infantry (28mm) VX0021
This 28mm hard plastic set from Victrix depicts Bavarian infantry from the Napoleonic period, specifically around 1809 when Bavarian forces adopted a more French-influenced appearance. This transition saw the replacement of traditional gaiters and slung packs with shorter trousers and crossbelts, more in line with their French allies. The set includes 58 highly detailed figures suitable for historical wargaming, painting, or display dioramas.
Contained within the box are 36 marching and 16 firing pose infantry figures, supported by a full command group and two mounted colonels. These figures are multi-part, allowing for a variety of dynamic poses and combinations. Crisp moulding and excellent attention to uniform detail—including helmets, tunics, crossbelts, and weaponry—ensure accuracy for representing Bavarian line infantry in the early 19th century.
The figures are ideal for recreating units from the War of the Fifth Coalition and other key engagements where Bavarian troops fought alongside Napoleon’s Grande Armée. With a strong visual character and uniform distinction, they make a versatile addition to any Napoleonic collection.

History:
The Kingdom of Bavaria, allied with Napoleon during the Napoleonic Wars, fielded a well-trained and visually distinctive army. By 1809, Bavarian infantry had transitioned away from older uniform styles, adopting French-style crossbelts, shorter trousers, and covered shakos. Their role in the War of the Fifth Coalition saw them fight at battles such as Abensberg, Eckmühl, and Wagram under Marshal Lefebvre and other French commanders. Bavarian troops earned a reputation for discipline and reliability, forming a key component of the Confederation of the Rhine forces. This Victrix set captures the transitional look of these soldiers as they adapted to evolving battlefield tactics and alliances.
