Victrix 28mm Historical Miniatures
28mm Late Roman Horse Archers VXDA014
Add high-speed firepower to your Late Roman forces with this versatile 28mm hard plastic set of mounted skirmishers. These 12 horse archers from Victrix depict the agile light cavalry units essential to Roman battlefield tactics from the 4th century onwards. Armed with composite bows and equipped for rapid hit-and-run attacks, they represent the Empire’s adaptation to the evolving threats of the Eastern frontier.
The set captures the dynamic motion and flexibility of these troops, with poses shooting forward, sideways, and to the rear. Each rider carries a bow, sword, quiver, bow case, and a small round shield strapped to the upper arm. Torsos are separate from lower bodies, allowing rotation and swapping for increased variety.
As Rome expanded eastward and faced foes such as the Sassanid Persians and various Steppe nomads, horse archers became a vital part of Roman strategy. Recruited from frontier regions and even former enemies, these units fought across the Eastern Empire and were later adopted by the Early Byzantines and Palmyrans.
