History:
During the waning centuries of the Roman Empire, unarmoured infantry played a critical role in the defence of its sprawling frontiers. These soldiers often came from local militias or auxiliary units, equipped with lighter gear to enhance mobility and adaptability. As the Roman military evolved to meet the challenges of Gothic, Persian, and Hunnic incursions, unarmoured troops were frequently deployed in support roles, skirmishing actions, and quick-response formations. This set captures the diversity of that transitional era, offering the modeller a glimpse into the soldiers who held the line during the empire’s most turbulent times.
