History:
Persian armoured spearmen served as a core element of the Achaemenid Empire’s military forces, offering a blend of discipline, endurance, and protection. Clad in scale or quilted armour and equipped with long spears and large sparas, these infantrymen could hold defensive positions against heavy infantry and cavalry. Their role was especially crucial during confrontations with Greek hoplites and Macedonian phalangites, where shield walls and spear reach determined battlefield outcomes. Their presence was not limited to foreign wars—Persian spearmen were also active participants in internal dynastic struggles, civil wars, and revolts. This set captures the look and formation of these steadfast soldiers in detailed 28mm scale.
