History:
The Vikings, seafaring warriors of Scandinavian origin, dominated European shores from the late 8th to the 11th centuries. Feared for their ferocity in battle and unmatched seafaring skill, they raided, traded, and settled across wide swathes of Europe—from the British Isles to Byzantium. Viking warriors often fought in mixed formations of lightly armoured raiders and well-equipped huscarls, wielding swords, spears, and massive two-handed axes. Their distinctive round shields, iconic helmets, and intricate ornamentation have made them legendary figures in military history. This set enables modellers to recreate scenes from the height of the Viking Age, whether on the shores of Lindisfarne or in pitched battle with Saxon defenders in England.
