History:
The Kyushu J7W1 Shinden (‘Magnificent Lightning’) was a radical Japanese fighter prototype developed during the final months of World War II. It featured an advanced canard design with forward-mounted elevators and a powerful pusher-prop engine configuration. Intended as a fast-climbing interceptor to counter B-29 raids, the Shinden was designed around a 30mm cannon armament and outstanding performance at high altitude.
Only two prototypes were completed before the war ended, with one making a short test flight in August 1945. The aircraft demonstrated promising characteristics but lacked development time and combat testing. Despite its brief life, the J7W1 captured the imagination of aviation enthusiasts with its futuristic layout and innovative engineering.
Zoukei-Mura’s SWS01 kit captures the experimental spirit of the Shinden in stunning 1/32 scale, offering builders a unique glimpse into Japanese late-war aviation design. With exquisite internal details, this model is both a challenge and a showcase of aeronautical ambition.
